Holmfirth Garden
Before and After

Situated in an idealistic pastoral setting with views of the rolling Yorkshire countryside on three aspects, this Holmfirth garden was overgrown with unattractive shrubbery and walling blocking most of the views.

By removing the majority of the structure and unwanted plants, retaining and ‘taming’ only those of merit, all the immediate gardens surrounding the house where redesigned and planted with a mix of low growing flowering herbaceous borders and evergreen topiary. A new garden room now overlooks the plantings to the rolling landscape beyond and a new herb and vegetable garden nestles behind.

The clipped and rounded forms of topiary relate in scale to the distant mounds of trees and shrubs.
